1 Beheaded As Rival Cult Groups Clash In Benue

Fear has gripped the people of Northbank area of Makurdi local government area of Benue State following a violent clash between rival cult groups which left a yet-to-be identified young man beheaded.

An eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the clash broke out in the late hours of Tuesday.

He said,”Residents of the area could not sleep due to the sound of gunshots, machete fights, and cries for help as the rival gangs engaged in a bloody showdown.”

He said, “The lifeless body of the victim, whose identity is yet to be identified was reportedly found at the scene of the incidence with his head cut off.”

He said security personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and other sister agencies, were seen patrolling the area and adjoining communities to prevent retaliatory attacks.

Efforts to obtain confirmation from the police spokesperson were unsuccessful, as her phone was not connected at the time of filing this report.
