1 Dead, Others Injured In Fatal Accident Involving 2 Trucks In Bauchi

A fatal road accident involved two DAF model trucks, on Sunday, in Magama Gumau Town, Bauchi State, has claimed one life of Usman Magaji, a 23-year-old, while two others were injured.

LEADERSHIP learned that one of the trucks, which was loaded with sand and carrying four occupants, collided with the stationary truck, which had broken down on the road.

The collision caused a fire that engulfed both vehicles instantly.

Our correspondent reports that Police operatives from the Magama Gumau Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with other security agencies, responded swiftly to the scene.

Operatives managed to extinguish the fire and rescue the victims.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the incident and said the injured were rushed to Toro General Hospital for medical attention.

Sadly, Usman Magaji was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, extended his condolences to the families of the victims.

He also urged motorists to strictly obey traffic rules and highlighted the importance of placing a warning triangle at least 45 meters behind any broken-down vehicle to alert oncoming drivers.

He further directed the Command’s Central Motor Traffic Department (MTD) to launch a discreet investigation into the crash.
