In a statement, FEMD’s acting director-general, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed disclosed that the body of the deceased young man had been handed over to his family by the FCT Police Command and FEMD’s Search and Rescue Team.

Mohammed stated that the victims, members of one family, were standing roadside when they were injured in the crash.

“The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 pm when a Coca-Cola beverage truck suffered brake failure, ramming into multiple vehicles before colliding with a construction company truck.

“Both truck drivers escaped unhurt, and a female customs officer whose vehicle was crushed by the Coca-Cola truck also emerged without injuries.

“Personnel from FEMD, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the FCT Police Command swiftly responded to conduct rescue operations,” he said.

The incident has intensified road safety concerns, with authorities calling for stricter adherence to vehicle maintenance regulations.
