1 Killed, 2 Brothers Abducted In Gombe

A 32-year-old herdsman, Hassan Shalo, has been killed after armed men invaded his residence in Kwaipibi Village, Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State.

The incident occurred at about 4am on Thursday, when the attackers reportedly stormed the residence of the victim’s family and inflicted serious injuries on him before abducting his two younger brothers.

The Gombe State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, told LEADERSHIP that the abducted victims were identified as 12-year-old Isa Shalo and eight-year-old Ahmadu Jalo.

Abdullahi explained that the command received a report about the attack and immediately deployed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Shongom, who led a patrol team to the scene.

He said Hassan was evacuated to a hospital for medical attention but was later confirmed dead from injuries sustained during the attack.

“The injured victim was evacuated to hospital for medical attention, where he was confirmed dead,” the police spokesperson said.

The police said efforts were ongoing to rescue the two abducted children and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

Umar Shongom, a resident, said the incident has heightened concerns among the members of the  communities in the area, calling for stronger security measures to protect rural areas.
