Eyewitnesses said the bandits stormed Kware the headquarters of Kware local government area with the intention of carrying out a robbery operation.

A member of the local vigilante group in the community, Bello Mai Maciji narrated that the attackers succeeded in stealing undisclosed sum of money from one Dan Balgore, a well-known businessman in the area.

Mai Maciji explained that the gunmen appeared to have prior knowledge of the money the businessman had in his car when they struck while Balgore made a quick stop to buy noodles.

He identified the deceased as a young man from Alhaji Muddaha’s compound who was selling cooking oil in the area.

Mai Maciji stressed that the victim died after sustaining gunshot injuries during the attack.

He however stated that the bandits fled when the local vigilantes confronted them.

They nonetheless set fire to a shop in the market, though the fire did not spread to nearby stores.

Enraged by the confrontation, the fleeing bandits moved toward the outskirts of the town towards Tangaza where they set fire to a water borehole which spread to the nearby cemetery.
