Ten persons have been arrested for car theft and child-trafficking in Aba by the Abia State Harmonised Task Force.
The head of operations of the team, Anozie Ogechukwu, announced this yesterday, while briefing newsmen in his office in Umuahia, the state capital.
He said investigations revealed that the suspects, who were arrested around Bata Bus Stop, had been terrorising residents of the area and its neighbourhood.
He said the suspects would be handed over to the police for further investigations and prosecution, and called on parents to be aware of those they or their family members associate with.
Decrying the manner some parents expose their children to begging on the streets, he described the attitude as one of the major causes of child-abuse and child-trafficking.
“Our job include to arrest and hand over to the appropriate quarters those behind such crimes for onward prosecution and we will not relent,” Okechukwu assured.
He warned criminals involved in the crimes to desist immediately or be ready to face the full consequences as the team has began operation at Isi Gate in the capital.
He assured that they would remain committed to their duties and solicited the cooperation and support of the general public.
