Katsina State government has disbursed Conditional Cash Transfer Programme (CCTP) funds to 104,111 girls across 255 secondary schools in the state.

While commemorating this year’s International Women’s Day, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering women and girls through targeted interventions in education and economic development.

“Education remains a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, and we are committed to ensuring that no girl in Katsina State is denied the opportunity to learn due to financial constraints,” the governor stated.

The CCTP initiative is designed to reduce the rate of dropout and improve school attendance among girls, particularly those from vulnerable households.

By providing financial support, the government aims to encourage parents to keep their daughters in school, thereby enhancing literacy and long-term economic prospects for women in the state.

Governor Radda further highlighted other empowerment programmes tailored for women and girls, including vocational training for 500 young girls and the goat rearing initiative, which has benefited over 20,000 women.

He reassured that his administration would continue to implement policies that prioritise women’s education, financial independence and their overall social well-being.

“The future of Katsina depends on the success of our young girls. We will not relent in our efforts to provide them with the necessary support to thrive,” he concluded.
