10th Assembly: Why Aminu Jaji Remains Only Alternative For Speakership

A civil society organisation, Northern Youths For Good Leadership and Governance (NYGLG) has declared its unalloyed support for the member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency in Zamfara State Hon Aminu Jaji to emerge as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly of the House.

The CSO noted that Jaji is not only the best of all the contenders but also the most suitable going by his antecedents and outstanding achievements.

In a statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Abuja signed by the president, NYGLG, Comrade Labaran Abubakar the group said it is now an open secret that RT Hon Aminu Jaji is not only the best of all the contenders but also the most suitable going by his antecedents and outstanding achievements.

Abubakar said he is widely acknowledged to be the only alternative to occupy the exalted position of Speaker going by the high standard of leadership and balance achieved by the outgoing leadership of the house.

It further noted that he has been proven to be a man of impeccable character, integrity, and a lawmaker with vast experience.

LEADERSHIP reports that Jaji was elected as a member of the House of Representatives in 2015 to represent Kauran Namoda/Birnin Magaji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He was appointed as the Chairman of the House Committee on Internal Security. During his tenure, he initiated several bills and motions aimed at improving the security situation in the country.

However, Abubakar noted that as chairman, House Committee on National Security, Intelligence, and Public Safety in the 8th Assembly, he was active and a vocal voice during debates and discussions on the floor and served on various committees, sponsored many bills, and made a number of motions.

“Jaji was re-elected in 2023 and has been a major contender for the position of the speaker of the House of Representatives,” Abubakar said.

He said Jaji’s candidacy is gaining support of stakeholders on daily basis and members across all regions because of his detrabilised leadership and he is considered to be the best to achieve cohesion, parliamentary and national unity, inclusiveness, and unity of all regions for the purpose of achieving prosperity for the nation.

“He is known to be at the forefront of efforts to reform Nigeria’s electoral system and has also been a vocal advocate for the rights of his constituents. He initiated several projects aimed at improving their standard of living.

“Jaji’s candidacy for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives has been endorsed by several groups and individuals across the country. They rely on his wealth of experience, integrity, and commitment to service as some of the reasons he is the best candidate for the job.

“Jaji has also promised to work towards ensuring that the House of Representatives is more transparent, accountable, vibrant, and responsive to the needs and aspirations of Nigerians,” he said.

Finally, he said Aminu Jaji’s candidacy for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives does not only presents a viable alternative to the current leadership, he’s also the only alternative for the Northwest region.

“His vast experience, integrity, and commitment to service make him the best candidate for the job. If elected, Jaji has promised to work towards ensuring that the House of Representatives is more transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of Nigerians,” he added.
