12 Things To Know About New JAMB Registrar Prof. Segun Aina

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026, after 10 years in the saddle of the examination body.

Here are 12 key things you probably didn’t know about the incoming JAMB boss:

1. He is one of Nigeria’s youngest Professors

Professor Segun Aina became a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, at the age of 39, making him one of the youngest professors in his field in Nigeria.

2. He will be 40 in July

Prof. Aina will clock 40 in July, 2026.

3. He Is A Professor At OAU

He currently lectures in the Department of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), where he also handles several departmental and faculty responsibilities.

4. He studied in the United Kingdom

Aina obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, United Kingdom, in 2008.

5. He Has Executive Management Training

Beyond engineering and technology, Prof. Aina attended the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University.

6. He had a prior stint in JAMB during NYSC scheme

According to a Presidency statement, Aina first worked with JAMB during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, where he gained practical experience in admissions processing and institutional systems.

7. He is a Technology and Systems Expert

The Presidency described him as a distinguished academic and systems expert with extensive experience in digital infrastructure, examination systems, and public-sector institutional reforms.

8. He is an Entrepreneur

Apart from academia, Prof. Aina is a serial entrepreneur. In 2010, he co-founded Fluid Click Solutions Ltd, an IT services and engineering project management company. His business and professional interests span Education Technology (EduTech), agriculture, hospitality, capacity building, and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

9. He has held Governance and Advisory roles
He served as a member of the pioneer Governing Council of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, and also chairs the Advisory Board of Queensland Academy, Isolo, Lagos State.

10. He has published about 30 Academic Papers
The new JAMB Registrar is the author of nearly 30 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, contributing to research in engineering and technology.

11. He belongs to several Professional Bodies

Prof. Aina is a COREN-registered engineer and a member of several professional associations, including the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

12. He is passionate about Youth Development

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Aina is involved in community development and philanthropy. He serves as the National Financial Secretary of the Otan Ayegbaju Progressive Union (OAPU) and leads the DSA Initiative for the Support of Education and Entrepreneurship, which focuses on expanding access to education and supporting young entrepreneurs.
