The Provisionary Committee of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard has praised virtues of the late Oyetola matriarch, Alhaja Wulemotu Arikeola Oyetola, mother of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Chief Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, who died 13 years ago.
A statement signed by Lt. Cdr. Ganiyu Babatunde, information and PRO of the Provisionary Committee, which was made available to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, said the late mother of the Minister, who was full of wisdom throughout her lifetime would be forever missed, not just by the Oyetola family, but by many others who came across her during her lifetime.
Lt. Cdr. Babatunde, in the statement to mark the 13th year remembrance prayer of the late Arikeola Oyetola, said Mama was loved by all because of her simplicity and commitment to development of humanity not only in Yorubaland, but Nigeria in general, stressing that the memory of her charity would continue to be the guiding light to the generation she left behind.
The statement noted that the late Mama Oyetola believed in unity of the nation and in her active days, she continued to preach and act unity, believing that the country would one day be strong and properous.
“The late Alhaja Wulemotu Arikeola Oyetola, strongly believed in unity of the nation and was committed to it such that in her active days, she talked and reflected on her belief in the nation,” he stated.
The Nigeria Coast Guard spokesman added that late Mama Oyetola was not just a pillar of support to her family, but to the entire South-West and Nigeria as a whole, recalling that when the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, was governor of Osun State, she played advisory role to the chagrin of those close to the Oyetola family.
