Agbayewa Farms has announced the commencement of the 2nd edition of the Agbayewa Cup Football Tournament, a flagship event promoting youth development through sports in Ekiti State.
The tournament, scheduled to run from October 8th to October 29th, 2024, brings together 160 secondary schools from all
16 local governments in the state, with a grand prize of N1 million up for grabs.
Speaking on the launch of the competition, chairman, Agbayewa Farms, Niyi John
Olajide, said: “We are very pleased to bring back the Agbayewa Cup for a second year, and Nigerians (especially those in Ekiti) can look forward to a rich display of talent and excitement at every game. The Agbayewa Cup is about much more than football.
“It aims to cultivate character, resilience, and a sense of community among the youth. This aligns with our broader vision of empowering the next generation to excel both on and off the field.”
The inaugural edition of the Agbayewa Cup in 2023 saw Christ School, Ado Ekiti emerge champions over Aramoko District Commercial Secondary School in a thrilling final held at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, Agbayewa Farms continues to invest in initiatives that uplift the communities where it operates. Since its establishment in 2021, the company has engaged in numerous community outreach activities, including annual medical programs and end-of-year gifting, further demonstrating its commitment to both youth and societal development.
