Pillah, who went down memory lane said WASU which was founded in London in August 1925 by Ladipo Solanke and Herbert Bankole Bright, both members of British West Africa, became the key political social and cultural organisation for West Africa and Benue State.

“As old as the organisation is, this is the first time it is offering scholarships to the students and appreciate the past leaders of the union for the indelible legacies they have built for the present generation,” he said.

He further said: “This administration is anchored on promoting education and entrepreneurship for self-reliance through the scholarship scheme and with the support from reputable organizations,  is targeting over 170,000 students across the West African Region in line with the philosophy of the founding fathers which was based on self-help, unity and cooperation”.
