Eighteen students in the Karu local government area of Nasarawa State have benefited from the Alhaji Umaru Aliyu Wamban Masaka scholarship.
This fulfils his promise at the annual speech and prize-giving day of Nurul Islam College Angwar Usama during the 2023/ 2024 academic session.
Narrating how the idea of the scholarship originated at the school‘s premises, the college‘s Proprietor, Malam Usama Usama, remembered that last year, during the college‘s annual speech and prize-giving day, Wamban Masaka pledged that any student from position 1 to 3 would be given a scholarship.
“He paid the money as he promised,” the proprietor said.
He thanked Wamban Masaka and Alhaji Umar Aliyu for redeeming the pledge.
The scholarship covered 18 students, 14 females and 14 males, from pre-nursery, nursery, primary, junior, and senior secondary school.
In his own words, the chief of the Kanuri People residing in Masaka, Malam Grema Muhammed, commended Wamban Masaka for the gesture, urging others to emulate him.
Abdullahi Muhammed, whose three children benefited from the scholarship, thanked Wamban Masaka for the gesture and called on others to emulate him.
