The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the fatal stabbing of a man during a clash involving suspected thugs in the Dorayi Konanan Bakin Mai area of Kano.

The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, when violence reportedly erupted between rival groups in the area.

The crisis was said to have started after a resident entered an alley where he was allegedly attacked by suspected thugs with whom he had a previous disagreement.

The victim was reportedly stabbed with a knife but managed to escape from the scene and return to his friends.

His return allegedly triggered another confrontation, as his friends confronted members of the rival group over the attack.

Confirming the incident, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said police personnel who responded to the scene found a man with a stab wound to the chest.

The victim was subsequently confirmed dead.

Kiyawa said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the killing, while police operatives were making efforts to identify and apprehend other persons believed to have participated in the violence.

He said the command would ensure that everyone found to have played a role in the incident was brought to justice.

The police spokesman urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist the investigation.
