Two persons have been reportedly killed in two separate armed robbery attacks in Arandun axis of Irepodun local government area of Kwara State.
LEADERSHIP gathered that another person was seriously injured in one of the robbery operations that occurred on Thursday.
Suspected armed robbers were said to have attacked the residence of a businessman, Mr Oyetoyan Dare, during which his private security guard was killed .
The same armed robbery gang reportedly ambushed a vehicle conveying farm produce from Ora in Osun State, killing the driver and injuring a passenger in the process.
Spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, Toun Ejire- Adeyemi confirmed the two incidents in a statement on Friday.
Toun Ejire- Adeyemi said the unfortunate armed robbery and culpable homicide incident occurred at about 6:30am on Thursday, 28th August, 2025, along Rore/Arandun highway, Irepodun LGA.
“Armed hoodlums attacked the residence of a businessman Mr Oyetoyan Dare, during which his private security guard Mr Wale Ajiboye aged 40 was fatally shot while resisting their attempt to gain entry into the residence,” she said.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) said, in a related development, the same gang ambushed a vehicle conveying farm produce from Ora in Osun State where the driver, 38-year-old Mr Taiye Yebi, who was unaware of the robbery incident, while driving pass was fatally shot with another passenger sustaining minor injury.
She said police operatives swiftly responded, recovering expended and live ammunitions from the scene.
“The corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue while investigations are ongoing,” the PPRO said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo has ordered a discreet investigation and reinforced patrols within the area to forestall recurrence.
The Command also reassured the public that normalcy has been restored, vowing that perpetrators will be apprehended.
