The attackers also torched two patrol vehicles belonging to the police and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), along with a motorcycle, and made off with several arms and ammunition.

Jakana, situated approximately 45 kilometers from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, along the Damaturu-Maiduguri expressway, was the site of the early morning attack.

According to local sources, the terrorists launched the attack at around 1am, engaging security forces in a fierce battle that lasted for nearly three hours. The insurgents eventually overpowered the security personnel and fled around 3 m.

Chairman of Konduga local government area council, Hon. Abbas Ali Abari, confirmed the incident during a phone call with our correspondent. “Yes, I received a distress call that Boko Haram terrorists attacked Jakana Police Station last night. I am speaking with the Divisional Police Officer, and whenever I get the details, I will furnish you,” he said.

However, he noted that he did not yet have detailed information on the casualties at the time of reporting.
