Police said the attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday when heavily armed bandits stormed the village, shooting sporadically and abducting residents.

Upon receiving a distress call at around 1:43 a.m., operatives from the Sabuwa Divisional Police Headquarters swiftly responded, engaging the assailants in a fierce gun battle.

Police Public Relations Officer, Katsina State Command, DSP Abubakar Sadiq disclosed that the exchange of gunfire forced the attackers to flee, leading to the rescue of 13 abducted persons.

However, two civilians lost their lives during the assault, while another victim sustained injuries.
