The Lagos State Rescue and Fire Service said two men have been rescued from an underground solid tank at a Conoil Filling station, situated at Capitol Road in the Agege axis of the state.
A release from the agency said it revised a distress call at approximately 15:15 hours regarding an emergency at the location.
The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, disclosed in a release that a 45-year-old man was trapped in an underground tank while one of the rescue team was also temporarily trapped in the process of rescuing the initial victim.
It was gathered that the Agency’s rescue team from the Agege Station responded, arriving at the scene at 15:29 hours.
She remarked, “Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 45-year-old man had become trapped while attempting to drain water from an underground solid tank.”
She, however, added, ”The situation was swiftly brought under control by the Agege rescue team with critical support from LASAMBUS, the Ikeja Rescue team, the Alausa team, and the Nigeria Police.
“Both the initial victim and the rescuer were successfully rescued and transported to LASUTH, where they received prompt medical attention. Both individuals are currently responding well to treatment.”
Adeseye commended the swift and professional response of all emergency personnel involved, which ensured that both individuals were rescued alive and received timely medical care.
