Faith-based group in Kaduna, The Harvest Family Outreach (THFO) in collaboration with Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA) Kaduna State chapter at the weekend embarked on a free medical outreach to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the Ungwan Zawu Camp, in Gonin Gora, Chikun local government area of Kaduna State.

The medical outreach provided spiritual and medical needs to over 2000 of the displaced persons through counselling, various tests such as malaria, hepatitis, blood group among other laboratory tests and gave appropriate treatment and drugs.

Speaking on the outreach, founder of the THFO, Engr Musa Nimrod said, the NGO was established to assist vulnerable people with both spiritual, physical and medical needs as a way of giving back to the society.

“Most people have various challenges including medical challenges which they cannot meet, this is why we took it upon ourselves as an NGO to assist them from what God has blessed us with and we do so regardless of religion, tribe and ethnicity, and we do so in partnership with other organizations,” he said.

The chairman, Kaduna State chapter of CMDA, Dr George Timilehin Gabriel said, they are also committed to caring for the whole man; spirit, soul and body, adding that health care is very expensive now, and that it is more difficult for those who are displaced from their sources of livelihoods.

On their part, the Dakaci of the area, Mr Amos Auta and coordinator of the camp, Caleb Nayaro, commended the NGOs for providing the IDPs with free medical services and prayed to God to replenish their finances.

The coordinator of THFO, Chioma Odili said, the joy of the NGO is to see that people are happy, stressing that aside medical outreach, the NGO also drills boreholes for vulnerable communities and provide scholarship for orphans and assistance for widows and less privileged people.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the NGO and wished that other NGOs, public spirited individuals and government can come to their aid in this trying time.
