Ekiti Assembly To Review Lawmaker’s Suspension In August

Ekiti State House of Assembly yesterday insisted that, a lawmaker, Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan remained suspended for 180 legislative days.

It also said it has done excellently well in the areas of law making, financial appropriation for equity and service delivery and oversight function in the last two years.

Addressing a press conference to herald the second year anniversary of the 5th Ekiti state  House of Assembly, Speaker Kola Oluwawole and the House committee chairman on Information, Hon. Samuel Omotoso  said Aribisogan had only served 147 out of the 180 daysslammed on him.

Oluwawole who condemned the lawmaker’s action said the 147 days was enough to have made him a changed person but he decided to be misinterpreting the House standing order.

The speaker who vowed that the assembly will always uphold the House standing rule and the constitution of the country the assembly will review the suspension after completion of the remaining 33 days in August.

Omotoso said,“ The suspension is to make him realize his mistake, to bring sanity to the house and to discourage others from acts of indiscipline. As at today he had served 147 days and it remained 33 days. Any contrary action from him will be viewed as aggression and misconduct against the assembly and further sanction could be meted out to him.”

The legislator was suspended on October 6, 2016 by the Assembly for allegedly holding meetings with the political opponents of Governor Ayo Fayose in Lagos had last week stormed the Assembly complex to resume duties.
