A group of five boys allegedly fled police yesterday afternoon.

Western Australia Police Commissioner Chris Dawson has confirmed one teenage boy’s body was discovered late last night, and another this morning.

The two bodies were found during a massive search operation in the Swan River, which was launched after four teenage boys jumped into the water while allegedly trying to evade capture.

Police say four of the boys then jumped into the Swan River.

“Police responded to the scene and were able to safely recover two boys from the river,” Commissioner Dawson said.

“Two boys are believed to have gotten into difficulties in the middle of the river and succumbed to the conditions, and were not seen to resurface.”

A fifth boy feared missing has since been accounted for.

Mounted police, water police and air police are all searching.

Condolences to the families of the two deceased boys and their friends and this very trying time,” says Chris Dawson

“This is nothing short of a tragedy that has taken these young boys’ lives.
