EFCC Arrests Bank Security, 2 Others For ATM Swaps Fraud



The Makurdi zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested three fraudsters who specialised in defrauding innocent Nigerians using their bank details obtained through sim swaps and Automated Teller Machines (ATM).

A statement by the head Media and Publicity,  EFCC, Makurdi Zonal Office, Dele  Oyewale said that the suspects are a 36-year=old Michael Damhindi, a  security guard with First Bank, North Bank Makurdi; Chidi Emmanuel Aniekwe (32) and Terhemba Iorhen (35).

According to him, the trio were arrested at First Bank, North Bank in Makurdi, where their modus operandi was to station themselves around ATM machine to help those who want to withdraw money.

“Items recovered from them included one Mazda millennia car, 31 ATM cards of different banks bearing different names, 10 smart phones; nine Nokia phones, two laptops, 16 starter sim packs, different kinds of sim cards of various networks, one Glo modem, one flash drive and fake currency notes,” he said.
