Worried by the spate of hate campaigns including the destruction of campaign billboards by supporters of opposing political parties, the Supreme Ibibio Paramount Ruler (Oku Ibom Ibibio), Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, has invoked traditional Injunction against the perpetrators.

This followed a series of protests and petitions with threat of retaliation by smaller parties including the Young Progressive Party (YPP), which alleged campaigns of intimidation by the bigger parties, especially the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The monarch, who doubles as the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, invoked traditional injunction at the weekend after Senator Bassey Akpan, the YPP governorship flag-bearer, protested to the monarch’s palace, complaining that “my campaign posters have been destroyed, my supporters are harassed, intimidated and victimised.”
