A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Nnanna Ibemgbo, yesterday said a victory for the party in the 2023 elections will translate into consolidation of the gains of democracy under President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP Friday in Abuja, yesterday, Ibemgbo said that President Buhari has succeeded in recovering the 16 locust years eaten by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which plunged the country into a terrible mess in all spheres.

He lauded the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari in the last seven and a half years.

He listed the Buhari administration’s achievements to include, Abuja-Kaduna, Lagos-Ibadan and Itakpe-Warri modern rail systems; Second Niger Bridge, National Social Investment Programme; Petroleum Industry Act; Integrated National Security and Waterways Protection Infrastructure; Anchor Borrowers’ Programme; Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project; Bonny-Bodo Road project; Airport Terminals, among others.

Ibemgbo said this was the first time since 1999 that an administration would boast of at least one road construction in every state of the federation and completed housing projects in 35 states.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has liberated Nigeria’s territory from insurgents. He has also re-equipped our security forces, the same security forces that were left stranded when money meant to equip them were looted silly by rampaging officials, some of whom admitted to spending N2.2billion to pray against Boko Haram?

“The Buhari administration has also recorded an unprecedented National Social Investment Programme under which 9.8 million school children are fed one meal daily, under which 1 million youths have been empowered.

“Another 500,000 who are undergoing training under the N-Power and the 1,632,480 households that have been enrolled in the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to give APC another chance in the forthcoming elections, so as to sustain the laudable and legacy projects of President Buhari.
