Igbo Kwenu 4 Asiwaju/Shettima Team, a support group under the Omaluegwuoku Progressive Initiative, has said presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has the full support of the people Kano State.
The group was reacting claims by presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, that the empty streets that greeted Tinubu during his recent visit to Kano State was an indication APC defeat in the state.
But the foremost Igbo support group with chapters in the 36 states of the country, including the FCT, said the claim that Tinubu has no support of the Kano people was false.
Speaking at a dinner by the Kano business community in honour of Tinubu and his running mate, Sen Kashim Shetimma, convener of the group, Ambassador Mrs. Ginika Tor, said, “Should you fail to tell your story, the world will twist it. The turn-out of this great event can be described as impressive outings which have defeated the fake news on Kano over the assurance of Asiwaju’s victory at the polls in Kano State.
“I am not surprised at the success recorded considering the men who are all advocating for Asiwaju and Shittima. Their antecedents cannot be over-emphasised. Kano is confirmed for Asiwaju Shettima”.
Tor also applauded the governor of the state on whose shoulders, she said, the whole mobilization depends and the state coordinator for Kano State of the APC presidential campaign council, Hon Baffa Babba Danagundi, who she recognised as a friend and supporter.
She said he supported the activity of her group had in Kano during the pre-election tour which held in six geopolitical zones to sensitise the Igbos on the importance of voting Tinubu.
Tor appreciated Sen Shettima who acknowledged in the presence of the APC national women leader, Dr. Betta Edu, and The PCC deputy spokesperson, Hannatu Musa Musawa, that he is aware and pleased with what she and her group are doing, especially how she rose against all odds to speak out.
Tor said the kind words and level of humility demonstrated by the incoming vice president has lifted her spirit to do more, adding that she will stop at nothing to keep advocating for these great presidential duos.
She thanked Dr. Betta Edu for her passion in supporting and lifting women, noting that the women leader has been a pillar to her recorded success because she has never stopped encouraging her as well as providing platforms for her to project her group.
She said Dr Edu had clearly pointed out that women need to support each other to succeed and that can only be if they shun envy and strife amongst themselves.
After his endorsement by the community, Tinubu promised to carry the community along in the scheme of things when elected as the next president of the country.
