A political support group loyal to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), PDP New Generation, has promised to deliver five million votes of young Nigerians for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election.

Director-General of PDP New Generation group, Audu Mahmood, disclosed this at an event to unveil the group’s ‘Operation Rescue Nigeria 2.0’ in Abuja on Saturday.

Mahmood noted that the PDP New Generation is a youth and women political organisation established to promote, maintain and preserve the integrity, unity and ideology of the PDP, with a commitment to the growth of democracy in Nigeria.

“With a virile structure, strength, and network of youth and women across the country, the organization advances the role of this critical category of Nigerians.

“PDP New Generation has a big task ahead. Our target is to deliver 5m votes to the Atiku/Okowa ticket.

“With a youth oriented campaign, we are taking the message of hope to our generation,” Mahmood stated.

The unveiled ‘Operation Rescue Nigeria 2.0’ project is being championed by the group’s 25-member National Strategic Committee (NSC) chaired by Hauwa Atiku-Uwais.

Mahmood also reeled out many qualities of Atiku and Okowa, which qualified them as the best alternative leaders of Nigeria from 2023, adding that his group of young men and women has been doing alot and will continue to do more to propagate the ideals of the PDP nationwide.

“The PDP New Generation participates actively in the decision-making process by promoting good governance and amplifying marginalized voices to influence leadership at all levels.

“We advocate for growth, overcome barriers to meaningful political participation and promote a more vibrant, resilient, and inclusive democracy.

“As young people of the PDP stock, we work tirelessly to promote and defend the party through consistent media engagements,” he added.

The event was attended by the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okoya of Delta State, including the PDP national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, and other party stakeholders, among others.
