2023 UTME: JAMB Asks Candidates To Begin Creation Of Profiles

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has asked candidates to create their profiles on its portal to avoid any delay during the registration process for its 2023 exam.

Earlier, JAMB fixed January 14 for the commencement of registration and April 29 for the 2023 UTME.

In the latest edition of its weekly bulletin, the board announced that candidates are at liberty to create their profiles, even before the formal commencement of the UTME registration process.

“To do this, every candidate would be required to use a unique phone (mobile) number (SIM) for the process of registration. This, in essence, means that the unique phone number can only be used by one candidate,” it said.

“Candidates are also to note that this number (SIM) remains their unique identification for all their subsequent transactions with the Board.

“To create a profile, candidates will send their national identification number (NIN) by text (SMS) to either 55019 or 66019 from their personal GSM number.

“Candidates will write the word “NIN” then leave a space and add their 11-digit NIN and send to 55019 or 66019 in this format: NIN 00123456789. They are to note the space between the word “NIN” and their 11-digit NIN.”

JAMB said the number to be used by the candidates to create the profile must not have been used by another person to register for UTME/DE in the past.

“Candidates are requested not to use post-paid or any other special bundle package as this will not work unless specially loaded with call credit,” the board added.

“Once the NIN has been sent to 55019 or 66019, a profile code of 10 characters will be received by the candidate on the same telephone (SIM) number.

“Returning candidates from previous years will still receive the same profile code on the phone number they had used previously.

“It is to be noted that the profile created remains the same for candidates either in their present or future transactions with the Board.

“This is because the number used to send the text message is automatically tied to the candidate’s name and will be used in all communications relating to the candidates’ 2023 or future application, examination, and admission.”

Also, the Board urged candidates, who desire to apply for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the Direct Entry (Direct Entry) to study the requirements before commencing the application process.

“They are to note that the Eligibility Checker on the IBASS platform is to assist candidates with options of programmes/courses based on their subject combination/qualifications.

“To use the platform, candidates are to scan the QR code provided on the Board’s website and its other social media handles as well as its advertisements announcing the commencement of the sales of application documents to access IBASS for the e- brochure and syllabuses,” it said.
