The national president of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Sampson Igwe, has called on Nigerians, especially Christians to participate actively in the forthcoming general election and vote based on their conscience.
Igwe made the call during the inauguration of the new leadership of The Apostolic Church Nigeria FCT Field led by Pastor Ime Udoinyang, at the 19th national convention of the church which began on Wednesday, November 23, and ended on Sunday, November 27 with special prayers for the country.
The cleric also called on voters to critically examine all the candidates and their manifestos, while making their choice devoid of any form of religion or ethnic sentiments.
“As the 2023 election approaches, it is for us as Nigerians to vote with wisdom and conscience. Christians should know that this is the time to play their role as Christians in the general elections.
“I know many Christians are not happy with the way things are going presently in the country, but they cannot continue with that thought, they should go and vote according to their conscience for the person they believe in making this nation better and that will give us the result we need,” he said.
He tasked the new leadership of FCT Field to towards improving on the development of the church and ensure unity among the members.
The new FCT field superintendent, Pastor Ime Udoinyang assured the members of a just and fair leadership, calling on them to collective support to move the church forward.
In the face of the economic challenges in the country, Udoinyang advised Nigerians to be patient and prayerful for things to change for the better in Nigeria, saying that God can change things for this nation if everyone is prayerful.
