A former Governor of Adamawa State, Barr Bala James Nggilari has said they are praying for God’s intervention concerning the 2023 general elections.

Nggilari, who noted there is tension in the polity, added that with God’s intervention, Nigeria will be right on track even after the election.

The former governor stated this yesterday during the ‘Nigeria Praise Declaration for Peace 2022’, tagged: “Sacrifice of Praise”, organised by Pastor Fidelis Chukwuemeka which was held at Jubilee Hall, Royal Choice in Abuja, said everyone must call on God for intervention concerning the 2023 general elections.

“Nigeria is in a situation where everyone is calling for God’s intervention. God’s intervention can only be felt when there is a sacrifice of praise.

“When you talk about sacrifice, people give sacrifice because they want either a deity or something to fight for them. In our present situation, everyone is calling on God to fight for him or her.

“The only time God fights for us is when we praise. And that is the instruction he gave us; that we should flood the land with praise because he wants to fight and give us peace in our land to enable us to have a successful election,” Nggilari said.

The convener of the Praise crusade, Pastor Fidelis Chukwuemeka said  Christians and Nigerians at large must unite and form a rallying point and stay away from any form of distraction that will heat up the polity in the build-up to the 2023 general election.

He advised candidates to maintain peace at all costs and shun electoral violence and malpractices, adding that winning an election is not a do-or-die affair.

“As Christians, we can be lights to the world and we can be the rallying point and unifiers, not only to Christians but to other Nigerians. They will see that indeed, these people are united.

“If you are contesting for an election and you don’t get it this time around, don’t scatter the votes, hold on, don’t scatter the nation, pray for the winners, your time will come. It will be great for you in the future,” the clergy said.

The provost of the praise crusade, Dr Simon Dolly, lamented the deplorable and unsafe state of the country, stating that the wisdom of Nigerian leaders have failed, insisting that only God’s intervention can bring the desired change.
