Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has reaffirmed his commitment to broadening his administration’s digital initiatives to ensure that digital literacy becomes widely accessible in the drive to foster a promising future for the youth in Gombe State in the rapidly changing world.
The Governor stated this in his message to the youth population in Gombe state as the world marked the 2024 International Youth Day, yesterday, 12th August, 2024.
He noted that this year’s theme, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” aligns with his administration’s agenda of empowering the youth through digital innovation.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasised that his administration has consistently invested in education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and job creation, equipping young people with the tools they need to thrive in the digital era. These efforts, he noted, are integral to the broader vision of securing a sustainable future for both the state and the nation.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya said his administration has launched several digital programmes to equip the youths with essential skills for the evolving digital world. Key among these is the government’s involvement in the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative (OTNI), where a skills acquisition centre was donated and funded to leverage information technology for youth empowerment with 2,000 young people being equipped valuable digital skills and employment opportunities.
He praised the determination and creativity of the youth in driving
positive societal change, emphasizing the critical role that digital technology plays in shaping the future, urging the youth to embrace the opportunities provided by the digital age and to use their skills to contribute to the state’s progress and sustainable development.
“Our youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the changemakers of today. With the right tools and opportunities, there is no limit to what they can achieve. Together, we will continue to build a Gombe State where every young person can turn clicks into progress, and dreams into reality.”
