Kano State government plans to host the 11th edition of the Nutritious Food Fair (NFF), tagged “Kano 2025,” at the Meena Event Centre on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
The “Our Food, Our Heritage” fair will unite key stakeholders in Nigeria’s food and nutrition sector to promote innovation, healthy eating, and agricultural transformation.
At a press briefing at the Audu Bako Secretariat, the commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Musa Shanono, said HarvestPlus is organising the event in collaboration with its global office in Washington, the Federal Ministries of Agriculture and Health, the Kano State government, and the UK government-funded Propcom+ Programme.
He explained that the fair would provide an operational platform for engagement, learning, and networking among policymakers, researchers, farmers, and food processors, all committed to advancing Nigeria’s nutrition and food security goals.
According to him, over 100 commercial exhibitors and more than 2,000 participants are expected at the fair, featuring exhibitions, panel discussions, capacity building, business deal rooms, NutriQuiz competitions, and NutriKitchen cooking contests, among other activities.
A significant highlight of the event will be the decoration of the Kano State First Lady as the “Smart Mother of the State”, recognising her commitment to promoting nutrition awareness among women, where she will lead efforts to educate families on healthy eating and improved meal preparation practices.
Shanono further pointed out that the event will promote nutritious diets, create job opportunities for youths, and foster new business linkages within the country’s growing nutritious food industry.
