Nigeria’s D’Tigress commenced their campaign for a fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket title on a strong note, overwhelming their Rwandan counterparts 92–45 in the opening match of the 2025 edition taking place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday.
The defending champions, filled with confidence after securing the last four titles, took full control of the game from the very start. By halftime, they had established a commanding 45–25 lead.
Their dominance continued into the third quarter as they extended their advantage to 71–37, leaving Rwanda with little chance for a comeback.
D’Tigress sealed the emphatic victory in the final quarter with another impressive performance, concluding the game at 92–45 and sending a strong message to their rivals.
