As the 2026 FIFA World Cup heads to North America, Toronto Public Health has launched a soccer-themed extension of its long-running “CondomTO” initiative, offering free, limited-edition condoms to fans flooding the city for six World Cup matches, including a high-stakes Round of 32 clash.

The campaign aims to tackle two perennial challenges of major sporting events: the spike in sexual activity among visiting crowds and the corresponding risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

The condoms available at no cost across four sexual health clinics and various community partner locations, while supplies last—come wrapped in six playful, soccer-inspired designs.

Among them is a cheeky variant dubbed “Peaches & Cream,” featuring whimsical peach and eggplant imagery that has already sparked smiles on social media. Each wrapper is a miniature ode to the beautiful game, blending public health messaging with the tournament’s infectious energy.

“Major events bring people together emotionally and physically,” said a Toronto Public Health spokesperson in a statement. “We want fans to remember the matches for the right reasons, not for a preventable infection.”

This isn’t the city’s first foray into sports-themed safer sex. During the 2015 Pan American and ParaPan American Games, Toronto issued special-edition condoms with similar success.

But the World Cup expected to draw hundreds of thousands of international visitors represents a far larger stage. With Canada co-hosting alongside Mexico and the United States, Toronto’s six matches will place the city in a global spotlight.

Local businesses and fan zones are bracing for packed streets, late-night celebrations, and, as health officials quietly note, impromptu intimate encounters. The CondomTO response is straightforward: make protection as accessible as a corner kick.

Fans can pick up the free supplies at any of the city’s sexual health clinics or participating community hubs. No appointment, no judgment—just a discreet handful of “Peaches & Cream” or one of the other five limited designs.

The message, much like a well-taken penalty, is direct: celebrate hard, but play safe.
