A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Hon. Innocent Ajaelu, has declared that the newly formed political association, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), seeking for registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will not be a threat to the ruling party during the 2027 general election.
Ajaelu, who made the declaration yesterday while speaking with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt, the state capital, described those behind ADA as ‘serial failures’.
He said, “I said there is no threat because the persons involved are known to be serial failures in the political scene. That is the truth. Most of them didn’t form this thing because of ideology to move Nigeria forward, their major concern is that they are looking for a vehicle to launch themselves into power.
“I can tell you today, keep this record for me; between now and the election, because of all the gladiators in it, there will be a crack.”
He stated that it was impossible for a political association formed less than two years ahead of the 2027 general election to unseat a ruling party.
The APC chieftain said: “We have freedom of association; everybody is constitutionally qualified to belong to any association. I have not seen any political party or association that could be formed in less than two years to general election and have any effect.”
He said any emerging political group is welcome, but they do not view it as a threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress, adding that, from what he can see—the names and familiar faces involved, “it’s simply old wine in a new bottle.”
He added that many of these individuals have failed in the past and are likely to continue failing, as their motivations appear rooted in personal ambition rather than a genuine desire to move Nigeria forward.
