The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has affirmed Senator Halliru Dauda Jika as its sole governorship candidate in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The affirmation exercise, conducted in the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), also produced the party’s candidates for senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly seats.

Speaking at the event on Friday in Bauchi, chairman of the ADC Electoral Committee for the governorship and legislative primaries, retired General Ishaya Bauka, said the exercise was conducted to ensure due process in the emergence of candidates.

He explained that the committee was specifically mandated to oversee the affirmation of Halliru Jika as the party’s governorship flagbearer, alongside other candidates of the party.

He further disclosed that all three senatorial candidates of the ADC in Bauchi State emerged unopposed and were accordingly affirmed.

In his acceptance speech, Senator Halliru Dauda Jika expressed appreciation to party leaders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.

He said the ADC leadership and stakeholders were fully committed to ensuring victory for the party in the 2027 elections.

“By the grace of God, from 2027, Bauchi State will become an ADC state from top to bottom and from bottom to top,” he said.

“I am a proud candidate backed by a formidable team of dedicated supporters and leaders. I can confidently say that no other contestant has the kind of united and committed team standing behind me today,” he added.

Jika, who represented Bauchi Central Senatorial District between 2019 and 2023, also contested the 2023 governorship election under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) before joining the ADC for the 2027 race.

Also speaking, Bauchi State ADC Chairman, Alhaji Shu’aibu Abdullahi Dankama, expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections.

He said the party had fielded credible candidates across various elective positions and was poised for electoral success in 2027.

Dankama added that stakeholders unanimously endorsed Jika based on his experience and wide political acceptability.

Among those affirmed were Hon. Garba Dahiru Salanke for Bauchi South Senatorial District, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi for Bauchi Central, and Senator Nazif Gamawa for Bauchi North.

The party also confirmed its candidates for the House of Representatives and Bauchi State House of Assembly elections ahead of 2027.
