President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has said the reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu are essential to national progress despite temporary difficulties.

Akpabio stated this in his goodwill message at the inauguration of the National Executives of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja yesterday.

The movement, founded by High Chief Dr Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo is aimed at mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The President of the Senate urged the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement and other groups as well as party members to embark on massive grassroots mobilisation to garner support for Tinubu.

Speaking further on the impact of the the present administration’s reforms, Akpabio said: “nations do not become great because they avoid difficult decisions; they become great because they confront decisions with wisdom, patience and patriotism. Lasting progress is rarely achieved without temporary sacrifice.”

For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, said history will be kind to President Tinubu, especially for the courageous steps taken by his administration towards socio-economic reforms in Nigeria.

Abbas noted that the movement stands for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the actualisation of his second term in office at the 2027 general elections.

He said: “let me say it plainly, and without flattery: history will remember this President for his courage. He met a nation at a crossroads and chose the path of conviction over convenience. The fuel subsidy: removed. The exchange rate: unified.

“The tax system was rebuilt from the ground up through the reform Acts that took effect in January this year. These were not decisions taken for applause. They were decisions taken for posterity.

“Yes, the road has demanded sacrifice, and we do not take that sacrifice lightly. But the early dividends are visible: rising revenues, returning confidence, and a fiscal system that rewards production, not consumption. A nation that endures the discipline of reform earns the right to its rewards.”

The speaker saluted the Founder and Grand Patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Dr Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo; National Coordinator, Sunday Asuku; Secretary General, Daniel Oluwatosin Dorcas and the entire leadership.

Also speaking, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, urged members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda charged members of the movement to engage Nigerians directly at the community level, saying electoral victories are built through personal interaction with voters.

“Every door you knock on will become a vote; every heart you win will become a voice that will echo the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Your assignment is simple: knock on every door, house to house,” he said, adding that elections are won through grassroots engagement rather than media campaigns. Elections are not won on TV or on social media. They are won in marketplaces, in villages,” he said.

Delivering the keynote lecture, Professor Bashir Makarfi of Bayero University, Kano, said the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration were beginning to yield results.

“The fact is too visible to be denied that Nigeria is undergoing a transformation under Bola Tinubu,” he said.

The Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi, described Tinubu as a symbol of purposeful leadership and urged Nigerians to remain united behind the administration.

“With unity, resilience and determination, Nigeria will get to the promised land,” Pondi said.
