Another female, Hajia Musliat Yetunde Bello-Adebowale, has declared her intention to contest the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kwara State.

LEADERSHIP reports that Hon. Aisha Ahman-Pategi had on Sunday joined the gubernatorial race, making her the first female to do so.

Speaking with newsmen in Ilorin, Bello- Adebowale , who is from Jebba town in the Moro local government area of Kwara north, said her bid is driven by passion to emancipate and empower the womenfolk and the youths.

While acknowledging the incumbent Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq’s stride in that regard, the gubernatorial hopeful promised to sustain and build on his developmental strides.

She listed progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth development and women inclusion as a foundation she intends to consolidate upon if given the mandate to govern the state.

Adebowale – Bello said that her agenda would focus on improved access to quality education, a comprehensive healthcare system, strengthened security architecture and expanded infrastructure across the 16 local government areas of the state.

She also outlined plans to boost agriculture, enhance youth and women empowerment, and invest in alternative energy and water supply to drive economic growth.

She said that she is positioning herself as a successor to continue the ruling party’s policies while advancing inclusive governance ahead of the 2027 polls.

According to the retired civil servant, Kwara State has all it takes to compete favourably with Lagos, Rivers and Kano states “if right person takes charge next year”, declaring herself as the right person for the job.

She described her aspiration as a call to service rooted in experience, empathy, and a strong commitment to sustaining the developmental strides recorded under the current administration.

The governorship hopeful emphasized that her decision was further inspired by the APC’s commitment to women participation in politics, particularly the 35 percent affirmative action, which she said has been visibly implemented in Kwara through strategic appointments by the current administration.

On security, she assured that if voted as governor, her administration would enhance collaboration among security agencies while promoting community-based intelligence gathering to tackle emerging threats.

She also pledged to consolidate ongoing infrastructural development across all 16 local government areas of the state.
