The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council l(APC-PCC), has said it is expecting to get 80% of total votes from Rivers state in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

The Director-General of APC-PCC, Senator Senator Abdulaziz Yari, gave this indication while speaking at the party’s presidential campaign rally in Port Hacourt, the Rivers state capital on Saturday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) had listed listed Rivers as the fifth state with the highest number of registered voters, having the record of 3,736,434.

Yari noted that out of this number, about 2.8 million had collected their Permanent Voter Cards(PVCs) and APC is expecting to get 2.3 million, accounting for 80% votes for President Bola Tinubu in next year’s polls.

The former Zamfara state governor, said he is even more sure of the number of votes because of the assurances from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike who is APC Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Rivers and the nation’s capital, Abuja.

The APC-PCC Director General also commended the Wike-led Rainbow Coalition for the robust mobilisation of support for the party’s presidential candidate, Tinubu and thanked the people of the state for their solidarity.

“I want to thank the Rivers people and I can see the Rivers Rainbow Coalition is going to work and that is what we are after. I asked how many voters are registered here. I was told is over 3 million.

“I asked the Jagaban of this Rainbow Coalition. I said I’m looking for 3 million. He said it’s too much but I told him that no. Out of over 3 million voters registered and about 2.8 million PVCs collected, we are looking for at least nothing less than 2.3 million votes.

“Mr. President, we thank the Rivers people. We thank the Honourable Minister. We thank everyone who did this mobilisation. We are happy with the mobilisation and Mr. President, you can see by yourself, this is one of the states that we are expecting nothing less than 80% by God’s grace,” Yari stated.

He further said most of Tinubu’s opponents were governors at one point or the other but none of them have the achievements recorded by the president when he heldsway as Lagos state governor.

“Those who happened to be in government from 1999, whether vice president or president, they were also governors. From Atiku, to Peter Obi, to Amaechi; Atiku Abubakar was elected as a governor before becoming a vice president.

“President Tinubu is the one who put the internally generated revenue of Lagos state at N600 million. He put mechanism in place, foundation in place. Today, I got information from the governor’s office, the internally generated revenue is over N100 billion.

“Mr. President, we are begging you, the plan you used to take up the N600 million that is now N100 billion, under 25 years, we are sure you are going to lay the same foundation for Nigeria.

“Your grandchildren will never forget you and they will ever be memorable in their mind. Sir, we thank you very much for this. What you are planning for Nigeria, we thank you so much. Rivers state people, we thank you so much,” Yari added.

Also speaking, the National Chairman of APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, declared that President Tinubu deserves another term to consolidate the bold reforms and transformative development initiatives of his administration.

Yilwatda said the Tinubu-Shettima ticket represented a combination of political experience, courage, capacity and tested leadership, capable of steering Nigeria through its current challenges towards sustainable economic growth and national prosperity.

“The most formidable presidential ticket we have ever produced in Nigeria is the Tinubu-Shettima ticket. We have a candidate in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is fearless, courageous and determined to confront the challenges of our country. He has demonstrated the capacity to take difficult decisions in the national interest, and he has remained resolute in pursuing the transformation of Nigeria.

“President Tinubu has confronted enormous challenges since assuming office, and rather than surrendering to them, he has taken decisive steps to address the structural problems that have constrained our national development for decades.

“He inherited a country facing serious fiscal and economic difficulties, including unsustainable fuel subsidy expenditure, revenue constraints and mounting obligations. His administration has demonstrated the political will to confront these challenges through difficult but necessary reforms,”he said.

Yilwatda noted that the removal of the fuel subsidy, the unification of the foreign exchange market and other economic policy adjustments were important components of the administration’s efforts to rebuild the economy, strengthen public finances and establish a more sustainable foundation for long-term growth.

He acknowledged that the reforms had come with significant adjustments for households and businesses but maintained that the administration was committed to addressing their impact through economic stabilisation measures, social interventions, infrastructure investments and policies designed to expand opportunities for Nigerians.

According to him, the Federal Government’s investments in strategic road infrastructure, including the proposed and ongoing superhighway projects, demonstrate President Tinubu’s determination to use infrastructure as a catalyst for economic expansion and national integration.

Yilwatda urged Nigerians not to lose sight of the long-term objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting that the country must sustain the reform trajectory to enable the administration to consolidate its policies and deliver greater economic benefits.

The APC National Chairman expressed satisfaction with the growing political alignment behind President Tinubu’s re-election bid in Rivers, noting that support for the President had transcended traditional party boundaries.

He commended the political leaders, stakeholders and members of the Rainbow Coalition for recognising the importance of national unity, political cooperation and continuity in the pursuit of Nigeria’s development.

“Come 2027, we want to continue with this reformer and performer as our President. That is why the coalition and the people of Rivers State, irrespective of political party, have decided to work together for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he added.

Yilwatda expressed confidence that Rivers State would deliver overwhelming electoral support for President Tinubu, predicting that the state would become a major stronghold of the President’s re-election campaign.

“Come January 2027, Rivers state will stand still. With the mobilisation capacity of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and other political leaders and stakeholders, we are confident that Rivers will deliver maximum votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We are looking forward to a situation where every part of this country will feel the impact of the prosperity that the consolidation of these reforms will bring. By the grace of God, we shall return after the election to give thanks for a renewed mandate and a brighter future for Nigeria,”he added.
