Kaduna residents have tasked President Bola Tinubu to aggressively tackle insecurity and economic challenges facing Nigerians as he flags off his All Progressive Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna today.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP in Kaduna yesterday, a trader on Jos Road, Joseph Uche, said he welcomed Tinubu’s campaign train but appealed to him to alleviate suffering among the masses.
“I welcome President Tinubu and his campaign team. Mr President, don’t be deceived by people around you, Nigerians are suffering and going through a lot. Please tackle insecurity, the economic challenges, hardship and high unemployment. Things are not going well. As a trader I know what I am facing,” he said.
Another resident, Sani Musa, stated, “President Tinubu, the hardship is too much. Many Nigerians are finding it difficult to eat once in a day. I wish you good luck as you campaign.”
Abdulganiyy Tijani, said Tinubu should do all he can to end hunger and escalating insecurity in parts of the country, especially in Kaduna, Zamfara and Sokoto states.
“For now, things are okay ahead of his coming. But he should listen to what people are saying. To be honest, there is hunger and insecurity in the land. If I see him tomorrow, I will tell him to do something about hunger and insecurity in the country,” Tijjani said.
Another resident, a petty trader, Bilkisu Zailani, said, “We are witnessing an increase in our sales. For some days now, I sell between eight and ten packs of soft drink unlike before that I sell only two or three after much persuasion. We are feeling the wave. However, going home after selling is another challenge. I live along Yakowa Way, and we hear gunshots every night.
“I wish his coming to Kaduna will end this unrest so we can at least do our business in a safe atmosphere,” she said.
Our correspondent who went round the Kaduna city reports that security operatives were also seen along major roads in preparation for the event.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP on telephone, Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the security personnel were heavily deployed to maintain law and other during the president’s visit.
Hassan said, “ We fully deployed security operatives. A lot of deployment has been made and just to show we are ready. No need for the number of security personnel deployed but we have deployed massive security.
There is a lot of deployment which shows the readiness of the security agencies not only the police it’s all the security agencies. We have not recorded any breach of security and we are not expecting it” the police said.
Thousands of APC supporters were expected to converge at Ranchas Bees Stadium for the event today.
