Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has declared that former President Muhammadu Buhari remained a veritable asset for the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Gov Sule said the former president’s traditional 12 million voters would tilt the calculation in favour of the governing party during the next elections.

The governor stated this at the grand reception in honour of the Secretary to the State Government, (SSG), Barr. Labaran Magaji at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital.

Sule chided those who believed that the former president, along with his supporters would exit from the alliance that birthed the APC, saying Buhari remained one of the leaders of the governing party and key influencer of its victory in the coming polls.

He added that both Buhari and President Bola Tinubu have come a long way and contributed immensely in the formation of APC, stressing that the alliance between the two leaders is waxing stronger ahead of the 2027 election.

For Nasarawa State, the governor acknowledged that there would be a lot of alliances and forgiveness amongst those vying for the seat of governor in the state.

He confirmed that 20 people have so far indicated their interest to contest for the governorship position in the state.

“So far, that is what I am seeing. So, there is going to be a lot of alliances, a lot of forgiveness and a lot of team work, if we really want to get to where we are, because at the end of the day, only one person will get it,” Sule said.

He, however, said only God alone can give position to whomever He wants, and at the time He wanted it.

“It is God Almighty that is going to select our next governor not A.A. Sule. For that reason, we must look forward to that support and commend whoever will become the governor in 2027,” he stated.

He thanked President Tinubu for continued support for Nasarawa and other states in terms of increased allocation and other incentives.

He said because of the president’s magnanimity, Nasarawa can now pay its salaries for the next three months without any allocation from the federation.

“Not because we are showing off, but because we have shown prudence in the management of our resources in the state that’s why by ever 25th of the month, we pay salaries,” he noted.

Also speaking at the occasion, the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami commended Governor Sule for his foresight in appointing Barr. Labaran Magaji as the state’s SSG.

He urged stakeholders to rally round Magaji as SSG for his effort in advancing Governor Sule’s mandate to shape the future of Nasarawa State.

“Let us unite and support his vision of accountability, transparency and all-inclusive governance,” he said.
