The Christian Rural and Urban Development Association of Nigeria (CRUDAN) has called on the federal government to ensure a credible and transparent electoral processes in the 2027 general elections.
The association also called for inclusivity and equal political space for all candidates, adding that the national security should be improved.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of its 35th annual general meeting in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The communique signed by the board chairperson, Bishop Peter Bartimawus, pointed out that Nigeria continues to face serious socio economic challenges affecting livelihoods, security and national cohesion.
Therefore, the annual general meeting, according to the communique, brought together members and stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on national development and governance issues, because partnerships between civil society, faith-based organizations, and development actors remain vital for addressing national challenges.
“Civic engagement and citizen participation in governance remain limited but are critical for improving accountability and development outcomes.
“Women and vulnerable groups still face barriers to full inclusion in national development processes.
“Ongoing insecurity in parts of the country continues to undermine peacebuilding efforts and community resilience.
“The association therefore calls for credible, transparent, and inclusive electoral processes in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
“The communique also urges government to improve national security and ensure equal political space for all candidates,” the communique read.
