The Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration (DMI) has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms and announced an alliance with the Tinubu Must Stay Movement (TMS) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The organisation’s Director of Policy and Administration, Mrs Marvel Jime, disclosed this in a position statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Jime said the organisation supported the continuation and effective implementation of the administration’s reforms, while acknowledging the economic hardship experienced by Nigerians.
“Our position is clear: sustain what is working, improve what is not, and ensure that the benefits reach ordinary Nigerians,” she said.
She added that DMI’s support did not amount to unquestioning approval of every government decision, noting that the organisation would continue to engage the administration on policies affecting citizens.
Jime said the alliance with the Tinubu Must Stay Movement would provide a platform for advancing the organisation’s position on national development and government policies.
She also explained that DMI’s renewed direction followed prolonged internal disputes, court cases and leadership uncertainties within the Labour Party, as well as disagreements over control of the party’s structures.
According to her, the organisation decided to move beyond the party’s internal challenges to pursue its objectives on national development.
“We have moved forward, not because we have abandoned our convictions, but because our convictions are bigger than any political party,” she said.
Jime said DMI was repositioning itself as a citizen-focused initiative aimed at encouraging public participation in governance and policy discussions rather than building its identity around a particular politician or political party.
She said the organisation would engage government institutions to help members access available capacity-building, entrepreneurship, employment and empowerment programmes.
However, she clarified that membership would not guarantee government appointments, contracts or financial benefits, stressing that access to opportunities would depend on eligibility requirements and transparent procedures.
“Membership of DMI is a commitment to service, not a guarantee of government appointment, contract or financial benefit,” she said.
On its engagement strategy, Jime said the organisation would promote issue-based discussions and focus on governance, accountability, economic reforms, security, employment, infrastructure, education, healthcare and citizens’ welfare.
She called on Nigerians at home and abroad, regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, religion or location, to contribute to national development through their knowledge, experience and ideas.
Jime maintained that public participation in governance should extend beyond elections, arguing that government policies affect all citizens, irrespective of their voting choices.
She said DMI would welcome constructive criticism and diverse opinions, adding that its objective was to contribute to national development rather than defend every government decision.
