A traditional ruler in Rivers State, Eze Emeka Ihunwo, has called on the people of the state to embrace the Rainbow Coalition, ahead of the 2027 general election.
The monarch stated that by reason of the coalition, which is led by the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, virtually all political parties are working for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
Ihunwo, who is the traditional ruler of Woji Community in Obio/Akpor local government area of the state, spoke with journalists at his palace in Woji, Port Harcourt.
He advocated for support for Tinubu’s second term bid, pointing out that for Rivers people to stand by Wike, meant that they are also with the President.
The traditional ruler appealed to the people of the state to throw their weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Kingsley Chinda, saying that his choice was the right step taken by the party, considering his political experience and leadership qualities.
Ihunwo stated that what Rivers State needed at this point in time, is not just a governor, but a governor who has diligently followed the political trend in the state and has equally served.
“What we, as Rivers people need is a man who has been tested, trusted and found competent to govern and take Rivers State to greater heights. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda posses the necessary qualities to be the next governor of Rivers State,” the monarch said.
He maintained that issue of good governance should be separated from ethnic sentiments, pointing out that it is not an issue of who is there, but who can deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
