Former councillors and political office holders in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State have dumped the political camp of Abdullahi T. Gwarzo and declared support for Hon. Fahad Muhammad Dankabo ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former political office holders announced their decision during a strategic meeting with Dankabo and leaders of the Association of Former Political Office Holders in Gwarzo, held at the weekend.
The group, comprising former councillors and other grassroots politicians, formally declared their intention to align with Dankabo’s political movement, in what political observers described as a realignment in the area’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
They also declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on behalf of the group, its chairman, Malam Ubale Mahmoud, said Dankabo had initiated a new political movement aimed at expanding political participation and attracting more stakeholders.
Mahmoud described the movement as a transition “from darkness to light,” saying Dankabo’s continued engagement with political stakeholders was promoting unity and understanding in the area.
He said the new political direction would provide stakeholders with opportunities to contribute to the development of Gwarzo and Kabo Federal Constituency.
In his response, Dankabo thanked the former political office holders for the confidence reposed in him, describing their decision as a significant boost to his political movement.
He emphasised the importance of unity, mutual understanding and collective commitment to political development and effective representation.
Dankabo also stressed the need to carry all stakeholders along, noting that broader engagement with the people was essential to addressing challenges affecting community development.
