Former Kaduna State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Abdulfatah, has emerged the consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general election under the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in the State, following what the party described as extensive consultations among aspirants.

The party made the announcement in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), saying the consensus process reflected unity and a shared commitment to presenting a credible alternative for the state’s electorate.

According to the statement, Abdulfatah’s emergence followed “extensive consultations and fruitful deliberations among its governorship aspirants,” culminating in a unanimous decision ahead of the 2027 polls.

The PRP described its candidate as “a seasoned politician, accomplished administrator, and respected statesman with over four decades of active political experience and public service.”

The party highlighted Abdulfatah’s political credentials, noting that he previously served as Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and was the pioneer chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Jama’are, Bauchi State. It also said he had held several strategic leadership and advisory positions across public institutions and organisations.

Reflecting on his legislative career, the statement said, “During his time in the legislature, he played critical roles in strengthening democratic governance, legislative stability, and public policy development in Kaduna State.”

The PRP said Abdulfatah’s emergence through consensus demonstrated “the unity, maturity, and collective determination within the PRP to offer Kaduna State a credible, experienced, and people-oriented alternative capable of rescuing the state from years of hardship, insecurity, unemployment, poor governance, and economic decline.”

The party also reaffirmed its commitment to the ideals of its founding leaders, stating that it remains “the only party in Kaduna State with a proven history of people-centred governance, accountability, and social justice principles firmly rooted in the legacy of the late Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa, whose administration stood for integrity, workers’ welfare, mass education, and the upliftment of the common people.”

The statement argued that Kaduna State was in need of “visionary leadership that prioritises the welfare of citizens over political propaganda and elite interests,” adding that Abdulfatah’s candidacy “signals the beginning of a renewed movement to restore hope, rebuild public trust, and return Kaduna State to the path of genuine development and inclusive governance.”

The PRP further declared its readiness to take over power in the state, saying it is “fully prepared, united, and determined to democratically take over power in 2027 and restore Kaduna State to its rightful place as a model of responsible and people-driven governance.”

“The people of Kaduna State deserve leadership with experience, courage, competence, and compassion and the PRP is ready to provide exactly that,” the statement added.
