A former lawmaker who represented Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Uko Nkole, has thrown his weight behind the governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on their stand against the coalition of the PDP with other parties.
Nkole spoke to LEADERSHIP on the sidelines of Abia North PDP stakeholders’ meeting held in Abiriba, Ohafia local government area of Abia State, describing the stand as very thoughtful and patriotic.
The former lawmaker expressed happiness with the pronouncement, and wondering “how the PDP, such a huge conglomeration would have been subjugated in the name of coalition.”
“The forum was very wise in that decision and I thank the governors for that. Otherwise, how can one expect the PDP to be swallowed by the other parties. PDP should be the one swallowing them,” he noted.
Nkole described the PDP as the largest organic party in the West of Africa. “In the 774 local governments and across over 120,000 polling units, there’s none you will not find a member” he said.
He further asserted that the PDP is still a force to reckoned with in the state considering its performance in the last local government polls.
Nkole, who hosted the first meeting of the stakeholders at his Uzu Abam residence in Arochukwu local government area in January, noted that the party still has the capacity to return to power.
