A coalition of prominent Gombe State stakeholders has endorsed the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, as its preferred choice for the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement was announced at a stakeholders’ engagement held in Abuja on Sunday, where the participants said their decision was based on what they described as Gwamna’s leadership qualities, vision and commitment to the continued development of Gombe State.

Gwamna’s media aide, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, in a statement, said the meeting, which was chaired by the special adviser on General Duties to the Vice President, Dr Aliyu Modibbo Umar, brought together a wide range of Gombe indigenes, including former ministers, retired senior military officers, former permanent secretaries, retired ambassadors, professors, business leaders and young professionals.

He explained that the stakeholders unanimously adopted a series of resolutions to strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, which included the formal endorsement of Dr Gwamna as the preferred governorship candidate.

The forum also reaffirmed that the Gombe State Stakeholders’ Engagement platform would remain a voluntary consultative body designed to complement the activities of the APC, the state government and other political actors rather than function as a parallel political structure.

Shawai added that the stakeholders also approved the creation of Political and Technical Directorates to oversee stakeholder engagement, policy development, research, political mobilisation and strategic communication.

The meeting further constituted a High-Powered Reconciliation and Stakeholders’ Engagement Committee tasked with reaching out to former aspirants and their supporters to foster reconciliation, strengthen party unity and build cohesion ahead of the governorship election.

He said the participants also resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state’s 11 local government areas, encourage voter registration and civic participation, and promote issue-based politics centred on competence, integrity, inclusiveness and evidence-based planning.

Responding to the endorsement, Dr Gwamna described the support as a renewed call to service. “Your endorsement strengthens our resolve to remain focused, disciplined and people-oriented in our mission. Together, we will ensure that development is not only continued but expanded to reach every community, every household and every citizen,” he said.
