The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Imo State chapter, has concluded its primary elections for the 2027 general elections, producing candidates for the National Assembly and the Imo State House of Assembly.

The exercise, which was held across the state, produced 10 House of Representatives candidates, three senatorial candidates, and 25 House of Assembly candidates, bringing the total number of flag bearers to 38.

The state chairman of the party, Prof. James Okoroma, said the primaries were conducted in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines, and witnessed strong participation from aspirants, delegates, and stakeholders.

He said the process, supervised by the State Executive Committee led by Hon. Eko Atu, was peaceful, transparent, and reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and grassroots participation.

Among those elected as senatorial candidates are Vincent O. N. Iwuchukwu for Imo West, Ofoegbu Uchenna Daniel for Imo East, and Ibekwe Nkiruka Imma for Imo North.

For the House of Representatives, the candidates include Amadi Samuel Okechukwu for Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West, Ogbonna Chukwudi Joseph for Ihitte/Uboma/Ehime Mbano, Ifeanyichukwu Emmanuel Egejuru for Onuimo/Isiala Mbano/Okigwe, and Obama Ikechukwu Calistus for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru.

Others are Okoro Rex Chikwesiri for Ahiazu Mbaise/Ezinihitte Mbaise, Anselem Nwoko for Aboh Mbaise/Ngor-Okpala, Bismark Chike Iheomazuruoke Akanoo for Nkwere/Isu/Njaba/Nwangele, Peters Uchenna Richard for Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West, and Kingsley Nnadi Okwarabizie for Ideato North/Ideato Federal Constituency.

The party also elected 25 candidates for the Imo State House of Assembly, including Ebo Marcel Chibueze for Ehime Mbano, Nwadike Henry Ogechi for Nkwere, Isaac Ugochukwu Mbika for Orlu, Emmanuel Ifeanyi Uwaegbute for Okigwe, Uba Chinonso Theodore for Mbaitoli, and Amadi Carlson Chidi for Ohaji/Egbema, alongside 19 others.

Speaking after the exercise, Hon. Eko Atu-led State Executive Committee commended delegates, aspirants, and the electoral committee for what it described as a disciplined and peaceful process.

He said the emergence of the candidates reflected the party’s commitment to presenting individuals with strong grassroots connections and the capacity to deliver quality representation.

“These flag bearers are ready to engage Imo electorates on issues that matter—security, jobs, infrastructure, education, and economic revitalisation,” he said.

He added that the outcome of the primaries demonstrated that the ADC remains “organized, united, and people-centered,” insisting that the party is prepared to offer Imo people an alternative in 2027.
