Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State have resolved to close ranks and work collectively to reposition the party for future electoral success.

The resolution was reached on Sunday at a stakeholders’ summit in Lokoja, convened to foster unity and address lingering internal divisions arising from past factional disputes.

At the meeting, party leaders expressed confidence in reclaiming all elective positions in the forthcoming general elections, while also affirming trust in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free, fair, and credible polls.

The stakeholders urged members to actively participate in the ongoing electronic registration exercise, cautioning against the use of unauthorized portals circulating in the media space.

In her address, the Senator representing Kogi Central and leader of the party in the state, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, called for unity and inclusiveness, urging members to warmly welcome returnees and new entrants into the party.

She noted that the PDP remains visible and active across the state, adding that internal disagreements have been resolved, with INEC recognizing the party’s executive committee.

“Let us bury our differences and work together as one. The issues within the party have been resolved, and we are stronger than ever,” she said.

The senator emphasized the need for grassroots mobilization to reposition the PDP as the preferred party in Kogi State ahead of the 2027 elections.

“This is a period of alignment and realignment. We must embrace all who wish to join us. The PDP is a strong brand with equal opportunities for both old and new members to aspire to any position,” she added.

On her political ambition, Akpoti-Uduaghan said she would make her intentions known after consultations, assuring that her decision would align with the overall interest of the party. She pledged to campaign vigorously across Kogi Central if she decides to contest.

She also commended INEC and security agencies for their roles in safeguarding the electoral process but cautioned against any form of compromise, stressing that the international community is closely monitoring developments.

The senator further lauded party stakeholders for their resilience and commitment, expressing optimism that the PDP would emerge stronger ahead of the next elections.
