The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) has cautioned President Bola Tinubu to be wary of some of the critics of his ministers, saying that they do not mean well. It added that the criticism of his performing minister was part of a grand plot to scuttle his reelection bid in 2027.

According to NAN chairman Salihu Sulaiman, the plan involves targeting nine high-performing ministers and cabinet officials who are believed to be instrumental in securing victory for Tinubu in future elections.
He claimed that the group has uncovered a scheme that aims to weaken the bond between Tinubu and his officials, thereby diminishing his chances of a second term return in 2023.

The targeted officials include the former governor of Rivers State and now minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Nyesom Wike, minister of internal affairs, Hon Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, minister of Budget and former governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Bagudu, the state minister of defence and former governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, minister of arts and culture. Hannatu Musawa, the chief of staff to the President, Femi Gbajamiala, the director general of Department of State Services (DSS) Yusuf Bicci and minister of aviation, Festus Keyamo, among others.

It said these individuals have been singled out for attacks and disrespectful treatment in an apparent attempt to undermine their influence and effectiveness in supporting President Tinubu’s reelection bid.

“The plan to target high-performing ministers and cabinet officials who have been instrumental in securing victory for President Tinubu in future elections is a deeply troubling revelation,” said Sulaiman.

It said the achievements of these officials in their respective ministries, departments and offices have been cited as potential threats to the opposition’s efforts to undermine President Tinubu’s reelection prospects.

The NAN says this plot underscores the need to uphold the principles of democracy, accountability, and the rule of law, adding that President Tinubu and his administration should remain vigilant to the machinations of these unscrupulous power-hungry politicians and continue to work collaboratively with these high-performing officials.

“President Tinubu must remain vigilant and discerning, avoiding any traps that could jeopardize the success of his administration. It is imperative that he continues to foster strong relationships with these key players, who serve as the supportive pillars of his government. By standing firm against attempts to sow discord and division, President Tinubu can ensure the continuity of his administration’s success and the realization of his vision for a prosperous and secure Nigeria,” the NAN said.
